About Me
My name is Carl and I’ve been a professional writer since 1999. I started out as a freelancer for various print magazines, before turning my hand to writing BBC programme descriptions for use on listings pages and EPGs (electronic programme guides). I’ve also worked as a proofreader and copy editor, a television subtitler, and even as a professional sitcom writer for BBC radio.
Over the past five years I’ve gained considerable SEO expertise through working as a web content writer and editor. I’ve provided countless SEO-friendly articles, web pages and blogs for a variety of companies, and I’ve written hundreds of fully-optimised consumer interest and FSA-compliant finance and insurance articles for a FTSE 100 company (Confused.com – part of the Admiral Group).
As a content editor, I enhanced externally sourced copy by trimming, adding tone of voice, and SEOing, before publishing to the web. I now use my web-writing/editing skills and grasp of current SEO practices to create first-rate SEO copy for any website.
In addition, I write press releases, newsletters, guides, banner ads, short form ad copy, Google adwords, and sales and marketing emails with a strong sales focus – all in whatever tone of voice best suits the target audience. I can pretty much turn my hand to any type of writing, so if what you’re after isn’t listed here, please email details of your request or call on 07875 561 780 to discuss your needs – I’m sure I’ll be able to help.
Companies I’ve provided writing services for include:
- BAFTA
- BBC
- Chambers and Partners
- Confused.com
- Citroen Wolf Communications
- General Electric Healthcare
- ITV
- Numerous SMEs
On a personal note, my hobbies and interests include travel, playing bass guitar, and writing sitcom and movie scripts.
